Restoring Brick Front Steps: Enhancing Safety and Curb Appeal
This recent project focused on the restoration of a client's front steps, which had deteriorated over time. The client's main objectives were to improve the safety and aesthetics of their home's entrance by replacing the damaged brickwork and addressing underlying structural issues.
The Challenge
The existing steps presented several challenges, including cracked and uneven bricks, which not only detracted from the home's curb appeal but also posed a safety hazard. The client required a durable and visually appealing solution to replace the old steps and ensure long-lasting stability.
“Brett Morris of Earth and Mortar Masonry is an excellent, fairly priced EXpert stonemason! We are so happy with our new restored steps!”
My Approach
To tackle these challenges, I began by carefully dismantling the existing steps, taking care to remove all damaged materials while preserving the structural integrity of the underlying foundation. This thorough preparation was crucial to ensure that the new steps would be both secure and visually appealing
THE TRANSFORMATION
The transformation process involved selecting high-quality bricks that matched the home's exterior. I meticulously laid each brick, ensuring a uniform and level surface. The result is a set of beautifully restored steps that significantly enhance the home's entrance, providing both safety and aesthetic value.
CLIENT’S ENDORSEMENT:
The clients' satisfaction with the work was encapsulated in their kind words:
“A conscientious, responsible and hard-working man, he did an exceptional job for us.”
